Recently, I embarked on a quest to find a modest dress for a friend’s wedding and for church. I ordered a dress online, received it, and found that it was too big. I repeated the process and found that the next dress was too small. The company did not allow returns, so I could only get store credit or resell the dresses on my own.
I’ve learned that modest dresses can be found if you look hard enough, but in order to find one that fits, especially if you are between sizes or petite, you really have to try them on.
After work yesterday, I went to eight stores. Some were resale shops and others were discount clothing stores. I finally came home with a modest dress and some shoes that I loved. The dress was of good quality and had probably originally been for sale in a department store before being transferred to the discount store. The discounted price was about 70% off the original tag price.
Thus, I’ve learned that you can find nice, modest clothes that fit, and for frugal prices, but it requires searching in person, not necessarily online. Yes, ordering online is fantastic if you absolutely know something is going to fit, but if you’re not sure, it’s better to go shopping in person.
