Sewing a Diaper Bag, Part 2
September 4, 2011 by Allie
This is Part 2 of sewing a diaper bag. Click here for the instructions.
So far, we’ve sewn the exterior body of the bag and the straps.
Once the straps are turned right-side out, sew along the edges. I used the top fabric pattern’s color of thread in the top of my machine, and the bottom fabric’s color of thread in the bobbin.
Add bias tape to the top edge of the pocket fabric.
Sew on the bias tape.
You can use a ruler to measure the distance you want between each pleat. These pleats will not necessarily be the sizes of the pocket divisions, but you can later use them as guidelines. The pleats will give room inside the subdivided pockets later on.
You can make every pleat the same distance apart, or you can vary them.
Sew along the bottom edge to keep the pleats in place.
Fold up the bottom edge (the one without the bias tape).
Check back in a few days for Part 3!
