Sewing a Diaper Bag, Part 1
September 1, 2011 by Allie
I found a great pattern for a diaper bag. Click here for the instructions.
Wash, dry, and iron your material. Cut out the pieces according to the instructions.
You need interfacing, thread, bias tape, elastic, and both interior and exterior fabric.
Using a pressing cloth, iron the fusible interfacing to the wrong side of the fabric for the main body of the bag.
Remember to use a pressing cloth, or you will have to patch a hole in the interfacing!
Layer main body pieces (exterior fabric), right sides together.
Sew edges according to pattern instructions.
Then, you’ll have the exterior of the bag! It will be nice and roomy.
Start working on the straps. You’ll need to layer the interfacing and both fabric patterns (see tutorial instructions).
You’ll be sewing down both sides.
Each strap will be 2-sided, with one fabric pattern on one side, and the other pattern on the opposite side.
Check back in a few days for Part 2!
