Lately, I’ve been having oatmeal for breakfast on workdays. It’s quick, it warms you up on a cold morning, it’s filling (I don’t get hungry again right away!), and it’s quite frugal. I’ve tried various kinds of instant oatmeal packets, but I don’t like the flavor (or they’re too salty).
I use quick oatmeal (not instant). I cook it in the microwave. I make half the amount the instructions on the canister calls for:
I use 1/4 cup oatmeal and 1/2 cup water. Then, I microwave it for 1 minute.
Next, I add cinnamon, maple syrup, and raisins. Yum!
I like to drink a glass of orange juice with my oatmeal.
I love oatmeal as well….we have it at least once a week.
I’m a super big fan of the oatmeal! Last weekend I stocked up big time. I think I ended up with 14 canisters (18 ounces each), because they were on sale and I had coupons. I ended up paying $.89 each for them. Not bad!
I also sometimes put vanilla extract in mine or cook it with soy milk. It makes it super creamy and delicious.
