Every time I get maintenance done on my car, I keep the paperwork together, but I don’t have a listing of everything that’s been done. I decided to make a car maintenance log that I could print out and keep with the paperwork. That way, I could have a summary of the work that’s been done, the cost, notes, etc.
Looking around online, such as this site, many sites recommended using a small notebook. I preferred to print out a couple of copies of the spreadsheet I made and add more pages as necessary. That way, it takes up less space.
Note – I ended up going back and typing in all of our maintenance, by year. It was very, very informative to see all of the maintenance and costs over time. I highly recommend it. As I’ve typed all of the previous work, I’ll just write in new maintenance on the spreadsheet printouts.
Later Note – As I was typing up the maintenance information, I ended up stapling all invoices from each year together and then writing the year on the front in Sharpie marker. Then, I decided to staple a printout of the maintenance info for that year to the front of the packet, using a new page for each year. That way, each packet a summary for that year’s maintenance.
