This week, I’ve been detailing how to alter a pattern if you’re petite, need extra skirt length, or want to try different sleeves. I showed how you can take a multi-pattern dress and turn it into two dress pieces.
Of course, you might end up with my problem… The dress looked like a hospital gown!!!
I tried to fix it by changing the round neckline to a v-neck…
I cut too much and made it too revealing.
I tried to add some gathers at the neckline…
It really highlighted the bust in a bad way… Think bad…
This is where the sadness comes in….
I was sad that a beautiful dress had gone down the drain.
I was sad that I had spent all of that time altering the pattern, trying to get it just right, only to have it look terrible.
Thus, in my distress, I cut the dress in two and made it into a skirt:
It’s really quite a lovely skirt. It’s simple, modest, and comfortable.
My problem: I don’t have a top to match!
Wondering what happened to the top of the dress?
Tune in tomorrow to see how I turned this ugly, messy piece of beautiful fabric into a work of art.
